Popular RV Camping Areas In Arkansas
The Natural State is chock-full of nature opportunities, as its nickname suggests! You’ll find so many beautiful places to explore, from the Mississippi River and its tributary, the Arkansas River, to the lush Ouachita National Forest in the west. These features make Arkansas an ideal camping destination for RVers everywhere. Whether you’re a local or taking a cross-country trip, you’ll find something worth visiting here.
Your local RV dealership, Razorback Camper Sales, is in Hot Springs, Arkansas, so we’ve made a short list of a few of our favorite Arkansas RV camping spots for you!
Tom Sawyer’s RV Park (West Memphis, AR)
Located along a bend of the Mississippi River, just across from Memphis, Tennessee, this park gives you easy access to the longest river in the United States, so you can fish, boat, swim and participate in watersports to your heart’s content. Gorgeous grounds provide you with beautiful views of the river. You’ll find full hook-up sites with a choice between gravel or concrete. Restrooms feature showers and there are free laundry facilities as well as free WiFi.
Make sure you’re checking the forecast if you’re coming here in the spring because it’s the flooding season. The park may experience temporary closures due to occasional bouts of high water.
When you want a taste of history, cross the river into Memphis proper and explore the Rock’n’Roll Museum or the National Civil Rights Museum, which will give you an insight into what happened in the area during the mid-20th century. You’re also only 20 miles away from Graceland! This campground is the perfect blend of urban exploration and natural camping.
Ozarks RV Resort on Table Rock Lake (Oak Grove, AR)
Scarcely a mile south of the Missouri-Arkansas border is this RV resort, located about ten miles east of the town of Oak Grove, AR. This campground is positioned along the southernmost portion of the massive, artificially-created Table Rock Lake, which extends well into Missouri and is the result of flood control efforts on the White River. You have access to a local marina with boat rentals so you can explore the lake or go fishing.
You can swim in the lake or hit up the campground’s hot tub and swimming pool instead. A golf course and tennis courts provide you and your family with recreational options. You’re a 30-minute drive from Branson, Missouri, where entertainment and tourist activities proliferate.
Gilbert RV Campground (Gilbert, AR)
Just southeast of the town of St. Joe is the Gilbert RV Campground on the northern bank of the Buffalo River. This small campground is intimate with 17 RV lots. The surrounding town of Gilbert advertises itself as “The Coolest Town in Arkansas” due to its generally cooler temperatures, so bring a jacket!
The adjacent Gilbert General Store provides you with everything you need while you’re camping, and a United States Post Office on the grounds lets you easily send postcards to your friends back home.
The entire Buffalo Natural River region is managed by the National Park Service as the United States’ first designated Natural River. It’s an extremely popular destination for watersports enthusiasts and the park offers tube rentals so you can join in on the fun. Bring your canoe or kayak for some relaxing boating! Hiking opportunities abound here as well.
